Up & Down 1.5

Up & Down is a card game designed for four players, utilizing a reduced deck of 40 cards with no team play involved. Each player competes individually to accumulate the highest number of tricks rather than points.

The game incorporates a betting phase and a card exchange stage reminiscent of Poker. Before commencing the game, each player selects a score. A match comprises a series of games where scores fluctuate, reflecting the essence of the game's title "Up & Down". The game continues until a player successfully lowers their score to zero. Gameplay proceeds counterclockwise.

At the beginning of each round, a trump suit is designated. Two specific suits hold special significance: Trump clubs double the tally of tricks won, whereas the trump of hearts necessitates every player's participation in that round.

When totaling tricks, if clubs are the trump suit, each trick counts as two points; otherwise, it scores one point each. For players who secure at least one trick, the achieved total is deducted from their cumulative score for that game. Participants who fail to win any tricks will either have ten points added if clubs are trump or five points if another suit holds that designation.
